Just a quick announcement that the name of the blog has changed. Nothing fancy, but a little shorter.
I was inspired by this when a fellow at the mail depot asked me where I got my laptop case. When I told him I sold them,he bought one right then and there.
This encounter got me thinking about other possible answers, and one that would certainly allow me to pass out a business card straightaway.
The next time someone asks me where I found my laptop case, my wallet,my purse hook , I can hand them a business card and proudly say,
“It was found by the Hound.”
I love springtime. The Japanese Cherry Trees are out and look gorgeous. However, they don’t make for very good traction when they are damp.
I walked to the studio today, and slipped on a batch of freshly fallen petals.I went down on the curb,knees first. After getting over the initial embarrassment, the first thing I wanted to know was: Did my laptop survive?
I’ve only had it six months. It banged the concrete face first when I fell.
Luckily, it was in my Kroo laptop case. This is how it hit the ground (upside down) in the photo below.

When carrying a laptop, you are easily holding anywhere from 2-4 pounds depending upon your model. While the smaller models are definitely lighter, when you have to do more for work the bigger models are still going to have to be hauled around. When you have a lot to haul, placing that load on one side of your shoulder may have your chiropractor or physiotherapist not too happy with you.
Enter the Kroo Cube Laptop Case. Meant to hold the laptop, and your most important files, these cases distribute the weight where it should be, by your side. Now it does take some getting used to, not throwing it over your shoulder;however I noticed that even with the bag I have now that does have a shoulder strap, I still hold it by the handles a majority of the time. Holding your laptop by the handles eliminates the problem of your bag swinging and pulling you off balance. You also can rest assured that there is no shoulder strap that could break or come undone.
The handles of the Kroo Cube are comfortable and velcro together for a tight fit. Models that are between 10-13 inches will fit inside the case (my laptop is a four year old13 inch Dell Latitude D620;that’s the computer in the picture). The laptop is held by a strap that velcroes across the machine. The files or papers etc you need to carry sit in a mesh pocket sewn opposite. This case is great for transporting to a location and using it straightaway, also allowing the case to cushion your machine and absorb heat. The Kroo Cube case is a hard shelled case which offers protection and support (see Took a Spill;Kroo to the Rescue). It’s not like a laptop sleeve with just a foam insert.
Also, if you have a Netbook or mini laptop ,you can also put your machine and your power cord inside together.
Of course, my duty at Hound and Handbag Gift Company is to make sure that these bags go through their paces ( see I Like Being A Guines Pig). And I’m happy to report that the Kroo Cube is a great substitute for taking weight off my shoulder. I use my case with the shoulder strap to carry other items that don’t pull me over.

I have to say, technology is wonderful. Well, when it’s working. And I don’t have to argue with it. However, as one of my teachers once told me, if you work in design, you have every reason to yell at inanimate objects.
Going back to my original statement…I have received,as a surprise gift from my parents and my husband, a laptop computer. My first one. Yay! I’ve joined the mobile world. Now, I truly feel I have the right to carry laptop bags in my store.
The first laptop bag I ever used (as a briefcase) was by Westie Bags. A bright pink, it is made of neoprene and is washable and tough without looking too sporty. The strap was also very unique in having a lock that was strong,unlike those flimsy clips that break so easily.
I still have that case. But as many a lady with a penchant for handbags will agree with ,you can never have just one. It is a goal at Hound and Handbag Gift Company that all bags should be as practical as they are pretty.
